The Toy Presidents are now half-priced! They have never been removed from their original boxes. The Toy Presidents are being sold as-is, with no returns or exchanges, because some have dead batteries. These batteries were available from Toy Presidents, Inc., for $1 apiece, and they may be available from local stores that sell batteries. Remove the battery and take it with you during your search.
This is a great opportunity to snatch up a bargain before they’re all gone!
The short of it: W’s wife. The long of it: Laura Bush was born on November 4, 1946, in Midland, Texas. Inspired by her second grade teacher, she earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Southern Methodist University in 1968. She taught in public schools in Dallas and Houston. In 1973, she earned a master of library science degree from the University of Texas and worked as a public school librarian. In 1977, she met and married George Walker Bush and was thus spared a lifelong role as Marian the Librarian. Mrs. Bush is actively involved in issues of national and global concern, with a particular emphasis on education, health care, and human rights. Teachers impact children everywhere and they certainly impact our whole country and our futures. 003-011 I just love to read. I learned to love to read. And reading has just been one of the great joys of my life. 004-048b Public school reforms are crucial, but they aren’t enough. As first lady, I’ll make early childhood development one of my priorities. 005-014 There’s something that is reassuring about being outside and working in the garden and that is that time does pass, and that life will go on, and that all of us, everyone who lives here has this beautiful Earth to live on. 006-036 It’s not easy to have the job of President. It’s not easy to run for it. It’s not a job for the faint of heart. 007-013 All of us want what’s best for our country. We may see different ways to get there, but in the end, we all really want what’s best for our country. 008-020 Government should be limited. Local people make the best decisions for their schools and communities. All laws and policies should support strong families. Individuals are responsible for their actions. 009-038 We can turn off the television and we can spend time reading to our children. We can give them the gift of our time and our attention. 010-002 The strength of America lies in the hearts and souls of compassionate citizens. 011-003 Women entrepreneurs and small business owners are some of the hardest working people in America. 012-004 When it comes to entrepreneurship and job creation, it is increasingly a woman’s world. 013-006 Americans rise to meet every challenge, and we have a boundless capacity to improve the lives of the people around us. 014-023 The President of the United States of America is more than a man, or a woman, as I hope the case will sometime be. The President is our most visible symbol of our country, of its heart, and its values, and its leadership in the world. 015-001 I’m so proud of my husband for recognizing the new realities of the world and for taking action to meet them. 016-005 My husband believes that we should all have an equal opportunity to achieve our dreams, and he has three strong women and home who don’t let him forget it. 017-033 We wake up early. We always get up about 5:30 and George gets up and goes in and gets the coffee and brings it to me. And that’s been our ritual since we got married. We read the newspapers in bed and drink coffee for about an hour, read our briefing papers, and then we eat breakfast and he goes to work at 7:00. I work out, if I have a chance, if I’m at home. And then I go to work. I either have meetings in my office. I sign letters. I plan different things. Late in the afternoon I’ll quit working and wait for my husband to get home. 018-030b We talk about issues. We talk about people. We talk about personalities. George is a very good reader of people. It’s fun for us to talk about issues. 019-042 We’ve benefited always, because of the expertise, or the interest, or the passions of our first ladies. 020-044 The whole history of our country, I think, is so documented by the lives of the people who live in the White House. 021-037c There are a lot of reasons to be critical of the media in America. A lot of times, the media sensationalize or magnify things and that really shouldn’t be. I do think there is a big move away from actual reporting. 022-026 The lessons of September 11th were how fortunate we are and how many freedoms we have and we can’t take them for granted. 023-040 This nation was born in a spirit of optimism and courage. That’s the spirit that beckons so many immigrants, yearning for a fresh start, willing to take the risk for the hope of a better life for themselves and their families. 024-041 Americans are willing to fight and die for our freedoms, but more importantly, we’re willing to live for them. 025-039 That’s one of the major differences between our country and the people we fight. We believe every person matters, that every individual is valuable, and has a right to life, and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
